RCG has recently completed the development of the Courier Hotel, a new boutique extended-stay hospitality offering in the heart of downtown Salem. Thoughtfully adapted from former office space on the second floor of the historic Hawthorne Building, the project represents the creative repositioning of an underutilized commercial asset into a vibrant hospitality destination while preserving the existing character and architectural integrity of the building throughout both the guest rooms and common areas. The Courier Hotel features 21 apartment-style guest rooms designed to accommodate both short- and extended-stay travelers, combining the comfort and functionality of residential living with the service and convenience of a boutique hotel experience. The development also includes a welcoming ground-floor hotel lobby that activates the streetscape and enhances the guest arrival experience. Throughout the process, RCG managed the permitting, design, financing, construction, and development execution of the project, transforming a legacy office space into a modern hospitality asset while honoring the building’s historic character. The Courier Hotel officially opened in May 2026 and will be managed by Lark Hospitality.
