This gut renovation project restored and preserved the historic features of the building and added high-end finishes and amenities. RCG added an elevator and extended the staircase up to a new roof deck that showcases the incredible views of downtown Asheville’s skyline and surrounding mountains. All 24 apartments were completely modernized with improved layouts, separate utilities and systems, in-unit laundry, and beautiful kitchens and baths. Many historic elements were salvaged and reinstalled including trim, doors, and built-in cabinetry. The project also included a complete reimagination of the entire lot including paving, landscaping and refuse enclosure. Additional living space was added to the day-lit basement level to create two duplex-style units while private storage units and bicycle rooms were added here as well. RCG received historic tax credits through the National Park Service.
